The mountain resort Lago Palù is in Valmalenco, 20 km from Sondrio which is the county town in the middle of Valtellina.
Cars can be left in Barchi (1695 m) and then approximately an half hour walk along a mule tracks leads to Lago Palù; it is also possible to take calble cars from Chiesa directly up to 2000m and then reach the refuge in a few minutes.
Lago Palù is a stage of Alta Via in Valmalenco and Sentiero Italia and it is also an ideal stop for those coming from Switzeland along the mountain passes which link Valmalenco with Val Poschiavo.
This is a bike friendly structure but ideal also for relaxing on the shore of the lake and the woods surrounding it.
The rising slopes make it ideal for a fantastic week's skiing holiday.
The mountain resort is always open, exept on November.
