Hundreds of itineraries of any difficulty, length and duration make Valtellina one of the Alpine zones best known and best loved by bikers from all over Europe.
The huge difference in altitude between the valley bottom at 200 m. asl and the mountain routes, often above 3,000 metres, offer everyone the chance to find their “ideal trail”.
Lots of great champions have trained on the trails in Valtellina, one name out of them all being the Olympic champion Paola Pezzo.
The famous Transalp has for a few years now been held on the trails in Valtellina, but there are also a lot of amateur races for both adults and kids, organised each year in Valtellina, proof of the locals’ love for this sport. Mountain bike schools, bike scouts, assistance and rental offices, a steadily growing network of bike hotels, bike parks, the chance to take bikes into the mountains on cable cars and, for the more techno, thousands of kilometres of GPS-mapped routes complete what’s on offer for those who like to pedal off road.
