The Hundredth Giro d’Italia with two stages in Valtellina

Big-name cycling returns to Valtellina with two incredible stages of the Giro d’Italia, which is all set to celebrate its fantastic hundredth edition. Two villages in the province of Sondrio are on the calendar for the last and most exciting of the three weeks of racing, perfect for the mountain climbers, all set to compete for the Pink Jersey. On Tuesday 23 may 2017, the main players are the Mortirolo Pass, this time tackled from the Brescia side and the Stelvio Pass, awaiting the cyclists after Bormio. After a brief foray into Switzerland with yet another climb up and through the Umbrail Pass, the pink racers will re-enter Italy to finish the sixteenth stage in Bormio, after 227 kilometres and three Kings of the Mountains. Whereas the following day will see the Giro set off again from Tirano, just a bit lower down the valley, with the 17th stage heading in the direction of Val di Fassa in Trentino, to Canazei, via the Aprica and Tonale Passes, covering 219 kilometres and including three Kings of the Mountains. Presented in Milan on 25 October, Giro number 100 is ready to excite and amaze, just like Valtellina!
