AUTUMN 2017: FOOD AND WINE EVENTS IN VALTELLINA

 
 

Valtellina is a real go-to destination for foodies in September and October with lots of events linked to local excellences. Here are the main food and wine events that are absolute musts!

TEGLIO: “PIZZOCCHERO D'ORO” AND AUTUMN FLAVOURS WEEKEND
From the start of September, every weekend sees the return of the traditional "Pizzocchero d'Oro", dedicated to Valtellina’s most typical pasta dish, which originated here in Teglio. Every weekend from the end of September to the end of November is an “Autumn Flavours Weekend” (Weekend dei Sapori d’Autunno), a chance to savour a wide variety of foods, including mushrooms, game and other autumnal dishes.

MORBEGNO: BITTO EXHIBITION
On 14 and 15 October, the 110th edition of this must-see appointment starring Bitto cheese! Plus tasting sessions, street food, starred show cooking, live preparation, market stalls, shows and concerts!   “GUSTOSANDO”, “SENTIERO DEL VINO”, “COSTIERA DEI CECH IN CANTINA” and “BRESAOLANDO”
On the weekends of 30 September / 1 October, 7/8 and 14/15 October, the Bassa Valtellina (the lower part of the valley) will be laying its tables for four must-visit events in the different towns that make up the district of Morbegno, for all palates and all tastes, with ancient flavours and traditional aromas.

SONDRIO: CHEESE IN PIAZZA
On 28 and 29 October, the centre of Sondrio will host the 12th market/exhibition "Formaggi in Piazza", with participation by dairy farmers from Valtellina, producers from the Lombardy and Piedmont Alps and from the Swiss valleys.
The many parallel events will include: markets in the squares, “cheese in music”, kids' entertainment and workshops, tasting sessions, guided visits and mountain bike tours, cheese hours and themed menus in the bars and restaurants taking part.

MORBEGNO IN CANTINA
One of the most important autumn events in Valtellina: different weekends offering a chance to taste traditional local food and wine excellences in the unique atmosphere of the old wineries in one of this region’s most beautiful towns, where times seems to have stood still. The dates are on September 30/October 1, from October 6 to 8 and on October 14/15
