Festa dell'Alpeggio
17th-18th September 2011
The "mountain pasture" festival join together culture, traditions and gastronomy to celebrate the mountain workers and to honour their hard work that preserves the area and produces excellent cheese. On 17th and 18th September
The festival takes place in Valmalenco (Chiareggio), to celebrate the beginning of the Autumn.
In Valtellina this is the time for the vintage and the occasion to taste apples and chestnut; the herds return from their mountain summer pastures and, with them, also the alpine cheese.
Not to miss the milk tasting and the special menu in the restaurants of Valmalenco.
