Nowadays there are few remains of this ancient medieval village, because during centuries it was sacked and buried several times. It appeared for the first time in a document of 1080. The parish church of S. Eusebio already existed in 1257, was consecrated in 1447 and then rebuilt many times. Very interesting is Via Patrioti with the parish church decorated with angels and flowers. In the right corner stands the pillory where the prisoners were exposed to ridicule. In the same street there is the chapel of S. Rocco (1630) and the Oratory of SS. Crocefisso. Important the house of captain Giacomo Robustelli that stands out among other houses and one of the most beautiful fountain in Valtellina in front of the Stoppani house. Here, a permanent exhibition about the history of Grosotto has been mounted, for bookings tel. +39 0342 887107. The Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie is worth a visit. It was erected as a thanksgiving for the escape from the danger threatened by the Grigioni in 1487. Inside there is an organ of the 18th century with carved panels. Grosotto is also a departure point for excursions in the beautiful Valgrosina.
