During the Middle Ages Lanzada was the most populated village of Valmalenco. According to the local history the profession of tinker had a great development in the village and the tinsmiths talked to each other with a particular language called “camun”. Nowadays Lanzada, along with Chiesa and Capoggio, constitutes the tourist area of Valmalenco. In the village there is a natural ice-skating ring and a cross-country slope with multiple rings. In summer, its naturalistic and ethnografical background is very appreciated. The large number of trails among the refuges give the opportunity to make different types of excursions and ascents.
The economy of Lanzada is based on tourism and mining (talc and steatite) as it is shown in the Bagnada Mining and Mineral Museum. In the area there are also two hydroelectric power plants with two big artificial lakes situated at 1900-2000 m. a.s.l.: Campo Moro and Alpe Gera.
To visit the parish church of S. Govanni Battista (XV c.) and the churches of the Beata Vergine Immacolata in the Moizi quarter (1750-54), of S. Carlo in Vetto (1629-36) and of San Pietro in Tornadri (XVII c.).
