Tovo di Sant'Agata - 531 m s.l.m.
It’s a little village of the upper Valtellina, situated on a wide plain next to Lovero. Its economy is based above all on agriculture. Here there is also the Alta Valtellina fruit and vegetable Consortium (C.O.A.V.). The Bellaguarda castle of the Venosta family, in the past feudatory of Tovo, represents today its historical past. It has been classified as one of the most well-organized castle of the valley and it’s also the only castle that has preserved a part of its former structures. The parish church of Sant’Agata was built in Baroque style. The church of the B.V. di Caravaggio, known also as S. Marco, preserves a 15th century fresco representing the Virgin and Child on the throne by Giovannino da Sondalo. Above Tovo stands the ancient Oratory of Santi Ippolito e Cassiano with frescoes by Cipriano Valorsa.
