 In Valtellina there are a lot of festivals, above all in summer and autumn. They represent an occasion to meet the local products, the scent of the great red wines and the flavours of a genuine cuisine

- "Cantine Aperte", on the last Sunday of May, among the whole Province of Sondrio. It is the most important event in Italy with wine, its people and its regions as protagonists and it takes place in the typical wine cellars;

- “Sagra della Mascherpa”, around the middle of June, in Gerola Alta. It is a gastronomic appointment with the Mascherpa tasting (mascherpa is a cottage cheese made of cow’s or goat’s milk);

- “El Ciapel d’Or”, (The golden cup), at the beginning of July, in Castione, in the neighbourhood of Sondrio, to taste the famous local wines;

- "Sagra della Bresaola", around the middle of July, in Chiuro, to celebrate this typical product of Valtellina;

- "Festa dei Pizzoccheri" at the end of July, in Teglio: this is the oldest event that honours the most typical dish in the whole Valley. It takes place in the wonderful pinewood and it just provides the tasting of the popular "Pizzoccheri" (rustic noodles of black meal whit vegetables, seasoned by butter and cheese from our mountain summer pasture) and others products from Valtellina gastronomy;

- "Sagra del Mirtillo" (the Bilberry Festival), at the beginning of August, in Rasura. It is a greedy occasion to taste appetizing dishes based on bilberries, one of the most savoury fruit of the brushwood;

- "Calici di Stelle" (The Stars Goblets), during the starry night of S. Lawrence (on the 10th of August), in Sondrio: the ancient Scarpatetti quarter surrounds this festival dedicated to the stars and to the good wine, with the tasting of the best local production, music, stars watching and…enjoyment;

- “Sagra dei Chisciöi”, at the beginning of August, in Tirano, to praise the real speciality of this area, a "bun" of black meal with aged cheese , butter and a drop of Grappa in the mixture;

- “Sagra dei Crotti”, 2nd weekend of September, in Chiavenna, that gives the opportunity of enjoying the typical products inside the characteristic "Crotti" (some cellars created in the natural mountain’s hollows) and to attend a rich programme of cultural, folkloristic and sporting events.

- "Grappolo d’Oro", (The Golden Cluster), around the middle of September, in Chiuro, which is considered the "capital" of the Valtellina’s wine production; in this village, whose history and art are still present in all of its corners, in the cobbled paving of his narrow alleys, in the arcades and in the courtly residences, all look on the great "reds" of the valley;

- “Sagra dei Funghi”, around the middle of September, in Bema (in the neighbourhood of Morbegno), it honours the Porcini mushrooms picked up in the shadowy woods of the Orobie mountains. In this occasion the tourists can visit the various stalls and exhibitions across the village’s alleys;

- “Pizzocchero d’Oro”, around the middle of September, in Teglio, to celebrate the popular typical speciality of the zone;

- “Sagra del Bitto”, in the middle of September, in Gerola Alta, that promotes and emphasizes the popular "Bitto" cheese, that is acknowledged as the king of the Valtellina’s cheese production ( DOP- Denomination of Protected Origin). In this occasion it will be promoted a series of initiatives in order to lead the visitor to discover the signs and the values of the past country community, strictly connected to the traditional activities that already survive in this zone;

- "Festa dell’Alpeggio", in the middle of September, in Valmalenco (Chiareggio), to celebrate the beginning of the autumn, the time for the vintage and the occasion to taste apples and chestnut; the herds return from their mountain summer pastures and, with them, comes also the alpine cheese. In these days it is also provided a series of several events in the whole Valmalenco;

- "Autunno Tiranese", at the end of September, in Tirano. Flavours, culture and ancient residences: wine tasting and typical products in the old town centre of Tirano;

- "Week end d’Autunno", eight weekends from the end of September until the middle of November, in Teglio. Greedy gastronomic proposals in the restaurants of the beautiful village. Among the protagonists there are the mushrooms, the hunting fruits and the autumn’s flavours;

- "Morbegno in Cantina" and "Gustosando", from the beginning until the middle of October, in Morbegno and its surroundings, to visit the old cellars in the historical centre of Morbegno and Costiera dei Cèch, with tasting of famous wines and genuine local products;

- "Sagra della Mela e dell’Uva”, (The Apple and Grape Festival), at the biginning of October, in Villa di Tirano, in honour of the "brugnola" grape and the "melavì" apple, which are the principal production around the ancient village, that lies at the foot of the Rhaetian Alps. During the event all is dedicated to these two products, also the restaurants offer a menu only based on the two fruits;

- "Mostra del Bitto", and "Fiera Regionale dei Prodotti della Montagna Lombarda", around the middle of October, in Morbegno, there will take place an exhibition and marketplace where it will be presented and tasted the local food and wine production, Lombard and National;

- "Mestieri in Piazza", a journey inside the customs, the activities and the products of the mountain. It is an interesting event that takes place during the summer season along a trail across the villages’ streets and squares of Bormio.
