International mountain relay race
The Vanoni Trophy is an international mountain running competition: a two-person relay for women and juniors, and a three-person relay for men.
The juniors (under 18) compete in the historic center of Morbegno, while the adults compete on the trails and mule tracks above Morbegno, with a categorized climb in Arzo, 750 meters above sea level.
Approximately 1,000 athletes from Wales, England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Slovenia, Poland, Spain, the Republic of San Marino, Ireland, and the Czech Republic participate in the event.
The unique features of the Vanoni Trophy are: the relay format, the presence of a large and enthusiastic crowd, a technical and spectacular course, and the start and finish on the central Via Vanoni in Morbegno.
