DESCRIPTION:
Built between 1592 and 1624, the church was remodelled after 1636, thanks to offerings collected during a plague that struck Livigno between June and September of that year. The bell tower was constructed in 1640-43, while the roof was rebuilt in 1645. In 1672, a large project to remodel the sacristy and choir was initiated under the direction of Bartolomeo Solari from Como and Stefano Panizza from Ponte in Valtellina. The choir was probably enlarged to accommodate the new altar, making the church more spacious. The sacristy was expanded again in 1685. The bell tower was given its current form in 1725-29, while the original seventeenth-century wooden roof was replaced with a pitched galvanized sheet metal roof in 1931.
