Val Cervia

This jewel in the Parco delle Orobie Valtellina serves as a ski touring and hiking hot spot

Val Cervia, and its neighbour Val Madre, are found in the centre of the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi, and particularly fascinating if you’re into the natural world as here’s where you may spot the black woodpecker and the Boreal owl. Throughout winter Val Cervia is a popular ski touring and ski mountaineering spot, while the view from Corno Stella (2620 m) is a big draw for hikers once the snow melts.

A HIKE FROM CEDRASCO TO CAMPELLI

Starting down in Cedrasco, a village just outside of Sondrio, and finishing up at Rifugio Rododendro at an elevation of 1265 m in a spot known as Campelli, this track is one of the best ways to acquaint yourself with Val Cervia.

As the hike will take roughly three hours and climbs 980 metres, it requires a certain level of fitness and experience.

Start: park in the centre of Cedrasco and follow the dedicated Campelli-Arale gravel access track to Rifugio Rododendro (1265 m).
