Hiking in Val Viola

hiking in VAL VIOLA: the route

The N148 trail sets off from in front of the Hotel Viola in Arnoga, rises for two hairpins and takes you to the cluster of huts in Cagnol, a typical mountain settlement. The route continues to ascend through forests before emerging onto open meadows with panoramic  views of the surrounding mountains, including San Colombano, Cima Piazzi, Corno Sinigaglia, Corno Dosde' and Cima Viola. At Soleir, you’ll lose the signposts briefly on an unmarked trail to Sattarona, offering a stunning view down to the valley and across to Val Verva.

The N128 trail then takes you past Stagimei before descending through meadows and fields. To return to the starting point, follow the N290, the main track between Val Viola and Arnoga, where the Sleddog centre is located.

This route can also be explored on snowshoes in winter with an experienced guide.
