In a class of its own, the peak of Pizzo Tre Signori is
one of the Valtellina’s most iconic mountains for a reason: now at the
intersection of three regions of Lombardy (Bergamo, Como and Sondrio), it used
to represent the border between the Republic of Venice, the Duchy of Milan and
the Republic of Graubünden. These days, it makes a great hike.
Start: Gerola Alta (1053 m)
Finish: Pizzo Tre Signori (2554 m)

From Gerola, the route rises into
the Valle della Pietra to the Trona Soliva pasture (the Rifugio Casera di Trona
is located nearby). From here, continue hiking until the Bocchetta di Trona at
2,092 metres. A traverse will take you to Rifugio Falc at 2,126 metres and the
Bocchetta di Piazzocco at 2,252 metres. Here’s where the final ascent of Pizzo
dei Tre Signori begins in earnest with a jaw-dropping ridge up to 2,554 metres.
