First
launched in 2013, the Valtellina Summer League is back for another packed
season of matches, events and training sessions, with particular emphasis on basketball
and volleyball.
For
the second consecutive year, UP Events are bringing the Valtellina Summer
League to life with the support of the Provincia di Sondrio, Regione Lombardia
and various district councils. This series of events caters for professional
and amateur teams, including those ranked in the A1/A2 basketball and
volleyball leagues.
VALTELLINA
SUMMER CAMPS from 15 June -15 July
Throughout the summer, there will be four gatherings dedicated to volleyball
and basketball (male and female) as well as two football camps (male and
female). Chiesa in Valmalenco, Aprica and Livigno will be hosting these active
events, with numerous professional volleyball players making an
appearance.
“IL
GRANDE BASKET” IN VALTELLINA in the final week of August until the first
weekend of September
Tune
in for 8 basketball matches between the following teams: Openjobmetis
Pallacanestro Varese (serie A1), Acqua San Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù (serie
A2), Germani Brescia (serie A1), Vanoli Cremona (serie A1) and Sam Massagno
Lugano (serie A1 Switzerland).
Dal 5 al 7 settembre, Livigno ospiterà quattro squadre di basket maschile di serie A, ovvero Pallacanestro Varese, Pallacanestro Cantù, Vanoli, Cremona e Aquila Trento che si sfideranno nei tre giorni.
On 5–7 September,
Livigno will host four men’s basketball teams from serie A, including
Pallacanestro Varese, Pallacanestro Cantù, Vanoli, Cremona and Aquila Trento.
Expect fierce games over three days as the four teams play it out to see who
comes out on top.
5 September:
Trento vs Varese;
6 September: Cantù vs Cremona;
7 September: Trento vs Cantù
8 September (Sondrio): Varese vs Cremona
From 11 to 15
September, eight of the best women’s volleyball teams will be lighting up
the sports fields in Valtellina, with four teams from serie A1 and four from
serie A2 in attendance in Chiavenna, Chiesa in Valmalenco, Sondrio and Aprica.
Which
teams will be represented? Volley Milano (serie A1), Uyba Busto Arsizio (serie
A1), Volley Bergamo 1991 (serie A1), Mulhouse (serie A1 France), Futura Volley
(serie A2), Albese (serie A2), Pico Lecco (serie A2) and Millenium Brescia
(serie A2).
The
schedule includes joint training sessions from the teams from both leagues.
- 12 September: Chiavenna,
Chiesa in Valmalenco and Aprica.
- 13 September: Sondrio and Chiavenna, with friendly matches
between the serie A2 teams.
- On 14 and 15 September, Sondrio will host the TROFEO CITTA' DI SONDRIO competition between
the serie A1 teams.
