Valchiavenna cycle-trail

The Valchiavenna cycle trail is a low-altitude path that starts in Colico (Lake Como) and arrives in Val Bregaglia, on the Swiss border. Here you can clearly see the fruits of the intermingling of two very diverse cultures, which has created a decidedly Central European atmosphere.

Along the path is the tiny village of Piuro, which boasts archaeological digs, the Acquafraggia waterfalls and the magnificent Palazzo Vertemate, which is an absolute must-see. There are plenty of refreshment stops along the way where you can sample the region’s famous cuisine. Experience the unique atmosphere of a Valchiavenna crotto, with a meal in one of the natural caves aerated by mysterious air vents called sorel, or dine in one of this magnificent valley’s characteristic restaurants.
