The Carnival del Rio returns to Sondalo: five circles of joy for a festive afternoon!
The 8th edition of Carneval del Rio will take place in Sondalo on Sunday, February 8th: an event that combines tradition, entertainment, and a wholesome dose of madness.
The 2026 edition will celebrate the spirit of the Olympics, with creativity and sports-themed performances, to mark the start of the Olympics, which will also involve the Alta Valtellina region.
Starting at 1:00 PM (meeting point at the Palù parking lot), the parade of floats and masked groups will feature music, entertainment, awards, a bar area, and the inevitable fritters.
The parade will be opened by Bandainsieme Sondalo, with the special participation of the masks of the Carneval Vecc di Grosio, for a perfect blend of tradition and entertainment. The afternoon will be accompanied by music from DJ Fede, while the refreshment area will offer the famous "Chiacchiere" of APF Valtellina and the delicious apple fritters of the Gruppo Alpini Sondalo.
Great attention is also paid to the little ones, thanks to the "Carneval-Kids" area, with games and entertainment by the Animando Group, and spectacular stilt shows and sports-themed performances by Luca and Stefano of "Freak Out," for a truly memorable day.
