Valmalenco hosts the Valtellina Orobie
When it comes to ski
mountaineering, Valtellina continues to win ground globally. Held on 3–5
February 2022 in two locations in Valtellina, the iconic Valtellina Orobie
event has been elevated to World Cup status.
On 3 February, the Alpe Palù in Valmalenco will host
the Individual Race, while on 5 February, Caspoggio in Valmalenco will be
the scene for the Sprint Races. Approximately 160 athletes from more than
15 nations are expected to compete across three categories: senior, U23 and
U20.
A dedicated Villaggio dello Skialp
will be erected in Sondrio’s Piazza Garibaldi. Here’s where you’ll find a host
of events related to ski mountaineering, as well as culture, local crafts, and
culinary delicacies. Expect music, good vibes, local history and legendary
stories of ski mountaineering feats in the valley, as well as books and much,
much more.
