This route takes you through Valle di Sasso Bisolo, a side valley of Valmasino, with starting point in Filorera. The road is tarmacked even on the new stretches on the left-hand side of the valley, which have, over the years, replaced the old route, destroyed by a landslide. It has a fairly high average gradient, with some parts over 10%, also calling for use of medium pedal assist. About halfway up, you come to the beautiful plain of Sasso Bisolo and Rifiugio Scotti. The climb then continues with a series of hairpins that lead to a car park. A short stretch over very loose terrain with big stones takes you to the big Piano di Preda Rossa, dominated by Monte Disgrazia and Corni Bruciati. You can pedal right around this plain, but this involves fording a stream.
