This uphill tarmacked route has a good gradient to the hamlet of Laveggiolo. Then it becomes a loose, stony rough track as it enters Val Vedrano. Followed by a couple of steep stretches that may require medium pedal assist. After two hairpins near Alpe Piazzi, you are back above Val Gerola with a long pedal across the slope to the Rifugio Casera in Trona Soliva. From here you can admire the characteristic pinnacles of the mountain range that includes Pizzo dei Tre Signori and Pizzo di Torna and the eponymous artificial lake. Standing out in the distance to the north are the granite peaks of Valmasino and Monte Disgrazia.
