The aim of this route is to reach, from Morbegno, the remains of the ancient abbey of San Pietro in Vallate, dating back to the eleventh century. San Pietro in Vallate is one of Valtellina’s very important cultural heritage sites, due to the age of this monument, its originality and surroundings. You start by pedalling along the Valgerola provincial road, turn right at the first hairpin and continue on tarmac to Dossa. The next stretch to San Pietro is down a steep very rough track. Like the previous route to Erdona, here again you can take the short way down to the plain at Piagno, but this means then riding along the busy state road 38, while returning along the outward route means tackling the rough track uphill.
