The uphill climb is all tarmacked to Bodengo. This is a rather long route with feasible gradients. In Cappella Donadio you can stop to admire wide views of Valchiavenna to the north. Then it's into the decidedly wilder side of Val Bodengo. The road passes close to the rock walls high up. On the left, awe-inspiring sheer drops into the River Boggia can be seen. After the town of Bodengo, you pedal along a rough track to reach the characteristic village of mountain chalets and caves in Corte Terza. If you like, you can continue into the valley on rougher terrain through to the handful of mountain chalets in Corte Seconda.
