5 ideas for spring vacations

Take advantage of the spring long weekends to spend a few days in the mountains

1. Walks in spring

The pleasant temperatures of this period are ideal for walks or trekking excursions.
Some tips:

  • Strolling among the apple orchards in bloom: in the area of Tirano and mid Valtellina, it is possible to admire the spectacle of the apple orchards in bloom. The flowers normally bloom between the beginning of April and the beginning of May, however it is difficult to predict exactly when the trees will be covered in flowers: the flowering period depends on the temperatures of the winter just passed and on the hours of sunshine and the level of humidity of the spring days.
  • Admire the Aqufraggia waterfalls: in Valchiavenna, in Piuro, easily reachable also by car, there are the Acquafraggia waterfalls, an authentic natural monument. We recommend having lunch in one of the characteristic Crotti and then taking a walk around the waterfalls. An excellent alternative could be the Novate Mezzola lake, at the entrance to Valchiavenna, for those who want to spend a pleasant relaxing day at the lake.

2. In Livigno and S. Caterina Valfurva last days for skiing

For those who still want to ski, the Livigno facilities are open until May 1st.
Ski lovers can continue their skiing season at the Stelvio Pass, the largest summer ski area in the Alps

3. Relax at the spa

A break for pure relaxation and well-being at the spa is a must on spring's long weekends.
From the historic Bagni Vecchi with the beautiful panoramic pool outside to the Bagni Nuovi, the largest thermal garden in the Alps; for the whole family, Bormio Terme is worth a try, even for those who want to take advantage of the thermal treatments.

4. Ride with the whole family on the Sentiero Valtellina

With spring it is time to get back on the bike and ride some of the many routes that Valtellina offers.
A simple itinerary, accessible to everyone, is certainly the Sentiero Valtellina that, following the course of the Adda river, connects Colico to Bormio for a total of 114 km.
The itinerary is equipped with several rest areas and refreshment points.
