Valcava alpine garden

The Giardino Alpino Valcava is located at the top of the Valcava valley, a wild gorge that cuts through the Andossi above Madesimo. The upper section (1800-1900 m above sea level) widens into a grassy bowl surrounded by spartan pastures with views of the mountains of the upper valley.

Signposted paths have been created for the various landscapes so that visitors can experience their best environmental characteristics. The garden has deliberately been left as natural as possible, although in some areas the grass is trimmed and there are four small fields: two for medicinal plants (juniper, arnica and edelweiss) and two for rare and endangered species of potato.
