treasure museum

In Chiavenna, the Treasure Museum preserves a vast collection of vestments and sacred furnishings and a very rare musical code from the 11th century

Chiavenna is an Italian municipality located in the center of the homonymous  valley, where we find a first true Renaissance jewel: Palazzo Vertemate Franchi is the only historic building that escaped the landslide of 1618, built by the brothers Guglielmo and Luigi Vertemate Franchi, members of one of the richest families who had flourishing commercial activities in Piuro.

Another precious jewel is the Treasure Museum where the most significant liturgical objects of art and religious history of the valley are collected: from the romanesque period to the nineteenth century. The museum preserves a vast collection of vestments and sacred furnishings and a very rare musical code from the 11th century.

The Galleria Storica Civici Pompieri Valchiavenna exhibits in some rooms created in Mese service headquarters, all the finds of firefighting origin preserved since 1868, the year of the constitution of the Chiavenna Fire Brigade.

The Paradiso Archaeological and Botanical Park, the Valchiavenna Archaeological Museum, the Piuro Excavation Museum, the imposing Belfòrt ruins and finally the Piuro Info Multimedia Centre complete the cultural and museum offerings of Chiavenna.
