ideas how to spend the autumn in Valtellina, don't miss the possibility to
listen to the deer bellowing
In the
early Autumn, during the mating season, the powerful bellowing of the deer can
often be heard and the males can even be seen as they parade to conquer the
females. The bellowing can be heard at all hours of the day but becomes more
frequent and spectacular during the early evening. Two of the best places to
hear deer bellowing are Val Zebrù in Valfurva and the Valle del Gallo in the
Cancano area, both in the Upper Valtellina.

hundreds of kilos of grapes are carried on backs in baskets called
"Gerle", loaded onto tractors and taken to the wineries along steep
