The Cancano Lakes

Located in the Stelvio National Park, in the Fraele Valley, the Cancano lakes are two large artificial lakes created by two hydroelectric dams built in 1900.

In addition to the impressive dams, the beauty of the landscape makes the lakes ideal for hiking and mountain biking excursions that the whole family can enjoy. Nearby, in Val Alpisella, are the springs of the Adda river, which meanders through the region before flowing into Lake Como. Passo Alpisella also accesses Livigno.

There are a number of valleys that head from Passo dello Stelvio into Switzerland, many of which are breathtakingly beautiful and uncontaminated, such as Val Trela.
