The wide portected area is in the Valmasino Municipality spreading out from San Martino (923 mt.) to the Disgrazia Mount (3678 mt.). It is divided into three different zones: a “comprehensive” nature reserve (with a total protection), an “orientated” nature reserve and a “partial” one of landscape interest.

The aim of the Reserve is the protection of the natural and landscape peculiarities, the safeguard and the preservation of the nature, the flora and the fauna.

A beautiful natural paradise, the Val di Mello is the favourite destination of the rock-climbers and boulders. Climbing can be practised both on the erratic boulders of the valley floor and on the granitic walls of its mountainsides. The nature reserve is also a place of relaxing walks to the discovery of a surprising valley: peaks that seem to be drawn by able hands, limpid waters, green meadows and stone houses that are a part of this fascinating nature.

The Val di Mello is crossed by the Sentiero Roma and it is considered as one of the most suggestive area in the Alps. There is the possibility that the reserve could be twinned with the Yosemite National Park in the United States, that was founded in 1873, for their geological similarity. 

TRAFFIC REGULATIONS IN SUMMER
With decree n. 8 of 29th April 2011, the Mayor FORBIDS all the motor vehicles to enter, drive and stop on the municipal road of Val di Mello, except for those who have the authorization granted by the municipal office of Val Masino.

Closing times:
- 1st May - 8th May and 2nd June 2011
- On Saturdays and Sundays from 14th May 2011
- Every day, 24 hours a day, from 4th July to 4th September 2011

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE
When the road is closed, a shuttle bus service will be working form the parking area in S. Martino.
The ticket costs € 1,50.
In different periods it’s possible to use the municipal road of Val di Mello by purchasing a ticket at the parking meter in S. Martino.
